Tarpon Springs Housing Authority (TSHA)

TSHA Mission Statement

The mission of the Tarpon Springs Housing Authority is to enhance the Tarpon Springs community by developing and professionally managing housing that is affordable for low to moderate income individuals and families. We seek to nurture our neighborhood and residents by creating and supporting services that promote stability and self-sufficiency for the people we serve. We are committed to operating in an efficient, ethical and professional manner while forming partnerships with our residents and appropriate agencies which help us carry out our mission. It’s our policy to serve our customers without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, age, sex, sexual orientation, having AIDS, physical handicap, or disability.

The TSHA’s area of operations by definition pursuant Chapter 421.03 is the City of Tarpon Springs and the area within five (5) miles of the territorial boundaries thereof.

SERVICES PROVIDED

The TSHA is responsible for the management and operation of its local public housing program which is administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The TSHA manages housing for low-income residents at rents they can afford. Residents’ rents are based upon income.

The TSHA may also operate other types of housing programs. The TSHA may provide other services that might include: youth development; homeownership opportunities for qualified families; employment training opportunities; employment programs for residents; and support programs for the elderly and homeless.

PUBLIC RECORDS REQUEST NOTICE:

All public records requests are to be in writing and must identify and direct the public records request to the TSHA’s custodian of public records.
In accordance with 2017 Florida Statutes, Chapter 119.12, the TSHA will process public records requests in a timely manner.
The TSHA will respond to public records requests within five (5) business days from the date
the written notice of the request is received by the TSHA’s custodian of public records,
excluding Saturday, Sunday, and legal holidays, and runs until five (5) business days have elapsed.

The TSHA’s custodian of public records is Robbin Sotelo Redd, Executive Director.

Based upon the availability schedules of the current members, the TSHA Board of Commissioners meetings are currently held at 10:00 am on the third Friday of the month, unless posted otherwise. Meetings are typically held at:

Anyone wanting to appeal an official decision made on any subject at a TSHA Board meeting must have a verbatim record of the meeting that includes the testimony and evidence on which the appeal is based.

    Drugs or Violent Criminal Activity
The use of illegal drugs is not tolerated in public housing and nor is threatening criminal behavior. The TSHA may choose not to accept applicants or permit residents to remain in residence who engage in any criminal activity that threatens the health, safety, or right to peaceful enjoyment of the premises by other residents, management staff, or by persons residing in the immediate vicinity of the TSHA premises.
